US Quadball Launches “USQ Day of Service: Pitch In for Our Communities” to Support Hunger Relief Amid Government Shutdown
As the federal government shutdown stretches into its third week and millions of Americans face uncertainty over food aid access, US Quadball (USQ) is mobilizing our community through a new initiative: USQ Day of Service: Pitch In for Our Communities.
The shutdown has caused major disruptions to SNAP, the nation’s primary food assistance program. Millions of low-income Americans and families are facing deep uncertainty, according to ABC News.
This coordinated volunteer effort invites quadball teams across the country to step in with concrete, no-cost action: collecting non-perishable foods, volunteering at food banks, restocking community fridges, spreading awareness, and delivering advocacy for hunger relief.
Teams who submit recaps of their Day of Service via photos, hours, pounds collected, etc. to USQ will be featured on usquadball.org and USQ social channels.
USQ also encourages team leaders to open their doors to their players, letting them know that if they are struggling to access food, they can come forward confidentially. Leadership can then work anonymously to find ways to help those players and/or their families. If you’re a team leader who isn’t sure how to support someone in need, a team leader who is in need, or if you’re a member of the quadball community who wants to offer help, please contact USQ at info@usquadball.org, and we can help coordinate assistance.
In a moment when millions of Americans are unsure if their next meal is secured, including members of our own organization, taking a day to volunteer is a reminder that community care starts with showing up, and that small, local actions can make a tangible difference when systems fall short.
