USQ at San Diego Comic-Con 2022

USQ will be a part of two panels at Comic-Con International: San Diego, taking place at the San Diego Convention Center from July 21-24.

FICTIONAL GAMES IRL

Thursday, July 21 at 2:00 pm PT at Grand 10 & 11, Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina

Produced by USQ, this panel returns for a third year to offer con-goers a primer on adapting a sport or game from a fictional universe. Learn about the complexities of taking a made up activity and playing it in real life, complete with custom uniforms, equipment, tournaments and more. Moderator Robyn Warren (Geek Girl Strong) will guide attendees through the wide world of fictional games and sports with panelists Arianna Yunker (US Quidditch), Anna Meriano (YA author and quidditch player), Tyler Inguanzo & Ronny Mcghee (Belegarth Medieval Combat Society), Judd King (Starlux Games) and Kelsey Chang, Ryan Gummerman, and William Holmes (Saber Guild).

Arianna Yunker plays with Anteaters Forever. Anna Meriano has played with the Houston Cosmos Quidditch Club and recently published the YA novel This is How We Fly

ARE WE WIZARDS? THE HARRY POTTER FANDOM IN 2022

Thursday, July 21 at 7:30 pm PT in Room 29CD at the San Diego Convention Center

Tim Herron, a quidditch player and USQ West Regional Coordinator, will be representing USQ on the 14th annual Harry Potter fandom panel. Herron plays with Mile High Quidditch Club in Colorado. Other panelists include academics and other fixtures in the fandom, including author Bitter Karella and playwright Matt Cox.
