US Quadball Launches Collegiate Growth Department to Strengthen the Future of the Sport

US Quadball (USQ) is proud to announce the creation of the Collegiate Growth Department, a strategic initiative dedicated to reversing declining participation numbers, supporting existing programs, and building a stronger pipeline for the next generation of quadball athletes. Openings for the team are currently listed on the USQ website.

Over the past few years, the league has seen a gradual dip in college team numbers and engagement. College teams are the lifeblood of quadball, serving as the primary entry point for new players and the foundation of the sport’s competitive structure. The Collegiate Growth Department is designed to provide dedicated leadership, resources, and hands-on support to ensure college quadball not only recovers but thrives.

At the helm of this new initiative will be the Collegiate Growth Director, who will oversee strategy development in collaboration with the CEO and manage a specialized team focused entirely on collegiate program growth and retention.

Reporting into the Collegiate Growth Director will be the Recruitment Manager and Retention Manager. The two are intended to be thought partners, working in tandem to bolster college quadball numbers.

  • Recruitment Manager: Leads outreach to prospective schools and drives new team creation

  • Retention Manager: Focuses on sustaining and supporting existing programs, with special attention to at-risk teams

Reporting into the two managers will be five Collegiate Growth Coordinators. Each will be responsible for a territory: the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, or West. They will implement territory-specific growth strategies, conduct outreach to colleges, and provide one-on-one support for recruitment and retention. More coordinators may be added depending on the workload and need of a territory.

Also reporting into the Collegiate Growth Director are the following roles:

  • Program Development Manager: Oversees the creation of resources and best practices for college team leaders

  • Marketing Manager: Designs promotional materials for recruitment and awareness campaigns on campuses

  • Fundraising Coordinator: Identifies new revenue streams to support college teams and initiatives

  • Collegiate Event Coordinator: Assists with event planning to enhance competitive and community opportunities

  • Data and Analytics Coordinator: Tracks recruitment numbers, retention rates, and engagement metrics to measure progress

  • Intramural Program Coordinator: Builds pathways for schools to establish quadball through intramural programs

The department’s launch includes a focused set of goals for the first 30 days.

Recruitment

  1. Compile and Prioritize Lead List

    • Use existing intel (old contact lists, tournament sign-ups, social media, etc.) to build a master list of potential schools

    • Categorize leads to guide early outreach

  2. Quickstart Recruitment Resource Update

    • Audit existing recruitment and marketing materials that USQ already has

    • Refresh only the essentials to distribute quickly to current teams and leads by October

  3. Set Up Tracking Infrastructure

    • Create a CRM to log outreach, responses, and program status

Retention

  1. Assess and Flag At-Risk Teams

    • Review last year’s registration, team size, and attendance data

    • Create a simple risk chart and metrics

  2. Direct Outreach to Returning Teams

    • Send a personalized welcome message or quick check-in call to every returning team to open communication channels early

  3. Leadership Network Setup

    • Work with the existing college group Discord to ensure all current college leadership is present

    • Offer introductions to teams in the area, as needed

Other

  1. Create a basic series of promotional templates teams can use for recruitment season

  2. Using the existing GiveButter fundraising platform, determine how USQ can better promote and support collegiate fundraising for the 2026 US Quadball Cup

  3. Create a calendar of virtual networking opportunities for collegiate leadership to interact with each other and USQ leadership regularly

  4. Create a structured proposal for intramural quadball to be pitched to colleges

These steps reflect USQ’s commitment to both short-term recovery and long-term sustainability for college quadball.

The sport’s growth has always been rooted in college communities, where passion, creativity, and inclusivity thrive. However, participation decline in recent seasons highlighted the urgent need for a focused, data-driven approach to support teams and attract new players. By building a dedicated department with defined roles and clear goals, we are taking proactive steps to revitalize the college scene, empower team leaders, and set the stage for a stronger, more sustainable future for quadball.

“This department is a direct investment in the players, volunteers, and leaders who make quadball special. Our mission is to create a framework for growth that doesn’t just maintain the current landscape but expands it for years to come,” said CEO Amanda Dallas.
