Mary Kimball, USQ’s Executive Director, will transition out of USQ on July 28, 2023 to pursue other opportunities.

Kimball joined USQ in 2015, first as the Assistant Events Manager for World Cup 8. She was quickly promoted to Events Manager, and later became Events Director in 2016. She was hired as Executive Director in November 2019. As Executive Director, some of Kimball’s highlights include leading the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic, changing the name of the sport both domestically and globally, expanding USQ’s broadcasting footprint, and hosting the first IQA World Cup held in the United States.

“Being a part of US Quadball and serving as the organization's leader has truly been an honor,” said Kimball. “This isn’t goodbye by any stretch — I have great fondness for this sport, and I look forward to staying involved as a player and fan. I want to say thank you in particular to my staff and board at USQ, my colleagues at Major League Quadball and the International Quadball Association, and my fellow national governing body leaders. I’ve benefited so much working alongside y’all these last 8 years. Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to players both in the US and around the world, who constantly inspire me with their heart, passion, and drive for quadball.”

“Mary has been an integral part of US Quadball and has served in many roles throughout her 8 years with the organization," said USQ Board Chair Shirley Lu. "She helped usher this sport into a new era and guided USQ through its most challenging period during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her unwavering commitment and contributions have left its mark on both quadball and US Quadball. While the path was not without its challenges, Mary's perseverance helped navigate our organization through uncharted waters.

On behalf of the board, we extend our sincere gratitude to Mary for her tireless efforts and dedication to US Quadball. Her impact will be remembered as we move forward, building upon the foundation she has helped to establish. We wish her the very best on her future endeavors, and we are excited to witness the next chapter of her journey unfold!”

More information on this transition will be available after IQA World Cup 2023, which takes place this weekend July 15-16 in Richmond, VA. Buy tickets and find livestream details at iqaworldcup.org

USQ Executive Team Transitions

This fall, Laura Porth is transitioning to a part time role as Director of Events and Megan Anderson is being promoted to full time as Director of Membership & Programs.

Laura Porth, USQ’s Director of Events & Partnerships since February 2020, has decided to pursue other opportunities in the sports industry and will be transitioning to a part time role as Director of Events effective October 8. Porth has been instrumental in ensuring a smooth return to events following the pandemic related shutdown from March 2020-September 2021. Her expertise running large sporting events shined at USQ Cup 2022 last season, which saw 69 USQ teams compete on the national stage across multiple divisions for the first time in three years.

As Director of Events, Porth will focus on pre-planning for USQ Cup 2023 as well as IQA World Cup 2023, and she will serve as the on-site tournament director for World Cup next summer.

Megan Anderson has been involved with the quadball community since 2012. She began as a volunteer for USQ, serving as the executive assistant to commissioner and later CEO Alex Benepe. She also volunteered in the events department and office of the executive director. She has attended every USQ Cup since 2013.

In December 2018, she joined USQ as a part time employee, serving first as the Membership Expansion Manager and then later as the Strategic Planning Manager. As the Director of Membership & Programs, Anderson will be responsible for the planning and execution of USQ’s membership program. She will also run USQ’s year round volunteer program and lead sponsorship solicitation for the league. Anderson’s work in strategic planning has been crucial in guiding the league’s support of team retention and recruitment efforts in recent years. Her transition to full time began on October 1.

“Both Laura and Megan bring so much passion, hard work, and expertise to their roles. Whoever gets to work with Laura next will be incredibly fortunate to have such a great events professional on their staff.” said USQ Executive Director Mary Kimball.
